The Wheel of Consent · Upcoming app
Privacy Policy
Effective date:
This policy explains how the current development implementation of The Wheel of Consent (Android package com.wheelofconsent.ce) handles information. It applies to the Android app, its desktop preview, and support correspondence about the app, and describes the implemented features as of the effective date.
Privacy at a glance: The app works offline without an account. Settings, saved items, and completed-practice identifiers stay on your device. Personal desire choices are session-only unless you turn on remembering. Two-person discovery answers, reflection notes, and ritual state stay in the running app’s memory. The current app has no advertising, analytics, payments, or cloud synchronization.
1. Who we are
The Wheel of Consent is operated by AC Utveckling (AC mobiltillbehör HB), based in Sweden. It is an independent companion app and does not claim official affiliation or certification.
For privacy questions, contact claeseriksson@acutveckling.com.
2. Information stored on your device
The app saves the following information locally in preferences.cfg to remember your settings and collections:
- Whether bundled photography is displayed, and your Android haptic-feedback, reduced-motion, and larger-reading-text preferences.
- Whether you have enabled Remember desire choices, which is off by default.
- The identifiers of practices and invitations you mark as favorites.
- The unique identifiers of practices you have completed.
- Your personal Welcome, Maybe, and Not now invitation choices, only if you enable remembering.
Turning off Remember desire choices rewrites the preferences file without those answers while keeping your current session’s choices available. Favorite invitation identifiers are saved separately from desire answers, so turning off remembering does not remove your favorites.
Completed-practice identifiers record which practices you have explored. The app does not add completion dates, saved timer state, or a dated history of practice sessions to this file.
The Godot engine may also create local logs and cached resources used to run or diagnose the app. Logs can contain technical messages, errors, and local file paths. These files are not uploaded by the app.
Invitation choices and favorites may reveal private information about your interests or boundaries. You can use the app without saving desire answers or adding favorites. No name, email address, or account is required.
3. Session-only information and shared-device use
Your personal desire choices remain in the running session by default. Two-person discovery answers and derived joint results, reflection notes, ritual plans, and active timer state are also kept in the running app’s memory. The app does not add discovery answers, reflection notes, or ritual state to the preferences file, even when remembering personal desire choices is enabled.
Two-person discovery takes place on one device, with separate turns, handoff prompts, and a shared-review step. Joint results do not label either person’s individual answer. The app does not provide a password-protected vault or separate user accounts: anyone with access to the active app may see the screen currently displayed.
Reflection notes are optional and limited to 2,000 characters per prompt. They may contain personal or sensitive information you choose to write. You can leave them blank or use Clear my session notes.
Session-only content is not restored after the app process ends. Switching to another app or leaving this app in the background may keep that process alive and does not itself erase the session. Pausing a timer or opening Settings or the privacy policy also does not clear private answers or notes.
4. Network access, permissions, and third parties
The current app does not upload preferences, favorites, completed-practice identifiers, invitation choices, discovery answers, reflection notes, ritual state, or local engine files. It has no accounts, advertising or analytics SDKs, tracking services, payment or subscription integration, or developer-operated cloud synchronization.
Instructions, readings, artwork, fonts, and the in-app privacy policy are bundled locally. The current Android build requests vibration permission for optional touch feedback and has no internet permission. You can turn off Gentle haptics in Settings. The app does not request access to your microphone, camera, location, or contacts.
The link to the original Wheel of Consent opens your external browser only when you select it. No private choices or notes are attached to that link. The browser and the website you visit handle that connection under their own policies.
Your operating system and the store or website used to obtain the app may process installation or diagnostic information under their own policies. Visiting this policy website also involves ordinary web requests handled by the website’s hosting provider; this is separate from the app’s local records.
5. Storage security and backup
On Android, local files are held in the app’s private storage, protected by the operating system’s app storage controls. The desktop preview uses your user account’s app-data folder. The app does not add a separate password or encryption system to the preferences file. Access also depends on your device and user-account security.
Automatic Android app-data backup is disabled in the current build. The app does not provide a cloud backup or recovery service. Copies made through external backup tools, screenshots, or device transfers are managed separately by those tools or providers.
6. Retention and deletion
Saved settings, favorites, completed-practice identifiers, and optionally remembered personal choices remain until you change or remove them. The current app has no user-facing data-export feature.
- Clear desire choices removes your personal Welcome, Maybe, and Not now answers from the current choice list and updates the preferences file. Turning off remembering removes saved answers while leaving your current session available.
- End and clear discovery removes both people’s discovery answers and joint results, including shared ritual plans or previews derived from that discovery.
- Clear my session notes removes the reflection notes held in the current session.
- In Settings, Reset local preferences & progress clears saved practice and invitation favorites, completed-practice identifiers, desire choices, reflection notes, discovery data, and ritual plans and previews, stops active sessions, and restores the default settings. It writes a new default preferences file; it does not remove local engine logs or caches.
To remove the app’s normal private files as well:
- On Android, use Android Settings → Apps → The Wheel of Consent → Storage → Clear storage (sometimes called Clear data), or uninstall the app. Clearing cache alone does not erase saved preferences, favorites, completion identifiers, or remembered choices. Menu wording varies by device.
- For the Windows desktop preview, close the app and delete
preferences.cfgfrom%APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\The Wheel of Consent\. Delete that app-data folder to remove local engine files stored there as well. Deleting the executable or project folder alone may leave this separate app-data folder behind.
Copies you created through external tools, screenshots, or device transfers must be deleted separately. Removing app data does not delete correspondence sent by email. We have no server copy of your local choices or notes and cannot restore deleted records.
7. Contact correspondence
If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the message or attachments you choose to send. We use them to answer your request and resolve support issues, based on our legitimate interest in providing support. Email providers process correspondence to deliver and store it.
We retain correspondence only as long as needed to handle the request, relevant follow-up, or legal obligations. Please avoid sending information that is unnecessary for your support request, including private choices, discovery answers, or reflection notes. You can contact us to ask about or request deletion of your correspondence.
8. Your rights
Where applicable under GDPR, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or data portability, and object to processing of your personal information. Contact claeseriksson@acutveckling.com to exercise your rights. We cannot remotely access or delete information stored only on your device; you can remove it using the steps above.
Read more about your data protection rights. You may also lodge a complaint with Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY), the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection.
9. Adults and policy changes
The app is intended for consenting adults. A saved preference or shared interest is never permission to begin an activity.
We will update this page and its effective date if the app’s features or data practices change, including before adding features that collect or transmit information. This policy describes the current development implementation; future releases may have an updated policy. The current app also includes an offline privacy policy in Settings.
