Taoism · Current development builds
Privacy Policy
Effective date:
This policy explains how the current development implementation of Taoism (Android package org.taoism.flow) handles information. It applies to the Android app, its desktop preview, and support correspondence about the app, and describes the implemented features as of the effective date.
Privacy at a glance: Taoism works offline without an account. Your chosen display name, preferences, saved collection, completed-practice identifiers, and journal text stay on your device. The current app has no advertising, analytics, payments, or cloud synchronization.
1. Who we are
Taoism is operated by AC Utveckling (AC mobiltillbehör HB), based in Sweden.
For privacy questions, contact claeseriksson@acutveckling.com.
2. Information stored on your device
The app saves the following information locally in taoism_data.json to remember your preferences, show your saved collection and progress, and retain your writing:
- Your chosen display name, if you change the default greeting.
- Your ambient-sound, haptic-feedback, and reduced-motion preferences.
- Your daily intention, stored as a target number of practice minutes.
- The identifiers of practices and articles you mark as favorites.
- The unique identifiers of practices you have completed.
- The current contents of one editable journal text field.
The journal automatically saves your current text shortly after you edit it. It is not a dated entry history, and editing it replaces the saved text. The app does not add mood records, timestamps, or separate earlier journal entries.
Completed-practice identifiers are used to display progress counts and a minute estimate based on each completed practice’s listed duration. The app does not save actual session durations or unfinished timer state.
The Godot engine may also create local logs and cached resources used to run or diagnose the app. Logs can contain technical messages, errors, and local file paths. None of these files are uploaded by the app.
Journal text may contain personal or sensitive information you choose to write. You can leave it blank and keep the default display name. We cannot access these records through the app.
3. Network access, permissions, and third parties
The current app does not connect to network services or upload your display name, journal, favorites, completed-practice identifiers, preferences, or local engine files. It has no accounts, advertising or analytics SDKs, tracking services, payment or subscription integration, or developer-operated cloud synchronization.
Practice guidance, readings, artwork, and fonts are included locally. Optional ambient sound is produced within the app. The app does not record audio or use a speech service.
The current Android build requests vibration permission for optional touch feedback and has no internet permission. You can turn off Gentle haptics in Settings. The app does not request access to your microphone, camera, location, or contacts.
Your operating system and the store or website used to obtain the app may process installation or diagnostic information under their own policies. Visiting this policy website also involves ordinary web requests handled by the website’s hosting provider; this is separate from the app’s local records.
4. Storage security and backup
On Android, local files are held in the app’s private storage, protected by the operating system’s app storage controls. The desktop preview uses your user account’s app-data folder. The save is a local JSON file; the app does not add a separate password or encryption system for your journal. Access also depends on your device and user-account security.
Automatic Android app-data backup is disabled in the current build. Taoism does not provide a cloud backup service. Copies made through external backup tools or device transfers are managed separately by those tools or providers.
5. Retention and deletion
Local records remain until you change them or remove the app’s saved data. You can erase or replace the journal text in Your Journey, remove favorites using their heart buttons, and change your preferences in Settings. The app saves the updated values.
The current app does not have an in-app data export, reset-all control, or completion-history deletion control. To remove all saved records, including the journal, completed-practice identifiers, display name, favorites, and preferences:
- On Android, use Android Settings → Apps → Taoism → Storage → Clear storage (sometimes called Clear data), or uninstall the app, to remove its normal private app data. Clearing cache alone does not erase saved records. Menu wording varies by device.
- For the Windows desktop preview, close Taoism and delete
taoism_data.jsonfrom%APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\Taoism\. Delete that app-data folder to remove local engine files stored there as well. Deleting the executable or project folder alone may leave this separate app-data folder behind.
Copies you created through external tools or device transfers must be deleted separately. Removing app data does not delete correspondence sent by email. We have no server copy of your journal or progress and cannot restore deleted records.
6. Contact correspondence
If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the message or attachments you choose to send. We use them to answer your request and resolve support issues, based on our legitimate interest in providing support. Email providers process correspondence to deliver and store it.
We retain correspondence only as long as needed to handle the request, relevant follow-up, or legal obligations. Please avoid sending information that is unnecessary for your support request, including private journal text. You can contact us to ask about or request deletion of your correspondence.
7. Your rights
Where applicable under GDPR, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or data portability, and object to processing of your personal information. Contact claeseriksson@acutveckling.com to exercise your rights. We cannot remotely access or delete information stored only on your device; you can remove it using the steps above.
Read more about your data protection rights. You may also lodge a complaint with Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY), the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection.
8. Policy changes
We will update this page and its effective date if the app’s features or data practices change, including before adding features that collect or transmit information. This policy describes the current development implementation; future releases may have an updated policy.
