Somatic Practices · Upcoming app · Current development builds
Privacy Policy
Effective date:
This policy explains how the current development implementation of Somatic Practices (Android package com.somatic.practices) handles information. It applies to the Android app, its desktop preview, and support correspondence about the app, and describes the implemented features as of the effective date.
Privacy at a glance: Somatic Practices works offline without an account. Your display name, preferences, saved practices, completed sessions, and journal reflections stay on your device. The current app has no advertising, analytics, payments, or cloud synchronization.
1. Who we are
Somatic Practices is operated by AC Utveckling (AC mobiltillbehör HB), based in Sweden.
For privacy questions, contact claeseriksson@acutveckling.com.
2. Information stored on your device
The app stores the following information locally in somatic_state.json to remember your preferences, keep your reflections, and show your practice progress:
- Your chosen display name, if you change the default greeting.
- Your gentle-chime, haptic-feedback, and reduced-motion preferences.
- Whether the in-app reminder is enabled and your selected reminder time.
- The identifiers of practices you save as favorites.
- Journal reflections containing a local entry identifier, your chosen mood word, optional written note, creation date and time, and calendar date.
- Completed-session records containing a local record identifier, practice identifier, active duration in seconds, completion date and time, and calendar date.
Dates and times come from your device. Insights use the completed-session records to calculate practice counts, total minutes, recent sessions, and a day streak. These are local summaries of your activity and are not sent for advertising or profiling.
The app uses somatic_state.json.tmp while saving and temporarily moves the previous save to somatic_state.json.bak while replacing it. The backup is normally removed after a successful save; interrupted or failed writes can leave a temporary or backup file containing current or earlier records.
The Godot engine may also create local logs and cached resources used to run or diagnose the app. Logs may contain technical messages, errors, and local file paths. The app does not upload these files.
Journal notes and mood words may contain personal or sensitive information you choose to record. Written notes are optional, and you can keep the default display name. We cannot read your local journal or practice history through the app.
3. Network access, permissions, and third parties
The current app does not connect to network services or upload your display name, reflections, completed sessions, favorites, preferences, or local engine files. It has no accounts, authentication service, advertising or analytics SDKs, tracking services, payment or subscription integration, or developer-operated cloud synchronization.
Practice instructions, artwork, fonts, and the in-app privacy policy are bundled locally. Gentle chimes are produced within the app, and the app does not record audio.
The Android app requests only vibration permission for optional haptic feedback. It does not request internet, location, contacts, camera, microphone, shared-storage, or notification access. Sound and haptics can be switched off in Settings.
The optional In-app reminder displays a message at your chosen local time while the app is open. It does not schedule background notifications.
Your operating system and the store or website used to obtain the app may process installation or diagnostic information under their own policies. Visiting this policy website also involves ordinary web requests handled by the website’s hosting provider; this is separate from the app’s local records.
4. Storage security and backup
On Android, local files are held in the app’s private storage, protected by the operating system’s app storage controls. The desktop preview uses your user account’s app-data folder. The save is a local JSON file; the app does not add a separate password or encryption system for reflections. Access also depends on your device and user-account security.
Automatic Android app-data backup is disabled in the current build. Temporary and replacement files described above stay with the local app data. Somatic Practices does not provide a cloud backup service. Copies made through external backup tools or device transfers are managed separately by those tools or providers.
5. Retention and deletion
Preferences and saved practices remain until you change them or reset the app. The app retains up to 1,000 journal reflections and 10,000 completed-session records, removing the oldest records as new ones exceed those limits.
In Journal, choose Delete reflection and confirm to remove an individual entry. In Settings → Reset local data, confirm Reset all data to clear all journal entries, favorites, and completed sessions and restore your display name, reminder, sound, haptic, and motion preferences to their defaults.
Deletion and reset save the updated records using the file-replacement process described above. To remove all app data, including any files left by an interrupted save and local engine files, clear the entire app-data storage:
- On Android, use Android Settings → Apps → Somatic Practices → Storage → Clear storage (sometimes called Clear data), or uninstall the app, to remove its normal private app data. Clearing cache alone does not erase saved reflections or practice history. Menu wording varies by device.
- For the Windows desktop preview, close the app and delete its app-data folder, normally
%APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\Somatic Practices\. This removes the main save, any temporary or backup files, and local engine files stored there. Deleting the executable or project folder alone may leave this separate data folder behind.
The current app has no in-app export or cloud recovery service. Copies you make or share elsewhere must be managed separately. Removing app data does not delete correspondence sent by email, and we cannot restore records that were stored only on your device.
6. Contact correspondence
If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the message or attachments you choose to send. We use them to answer your request and resolve support issues, based on our legitimate interest in providing support. Email providers process correspondence to deliver and store it.
We retain correspondence only as long as needed to handle the request, relevant follow-up, or legal obligations. Please avoid sending information that is unnecessary for your support request, including private reflections. You can contact us to ask about or request deletion of your correspondence.
7. Your rights
Where applicable under GDPR, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or data portability, and object to processing of your personal information. Contact claeseriksson@acutveckling.com to exercise your rights. We cannot remotely access or delete information stored only on your device; you can remove it using the steps above.
Read more about your data protection rights. You may also lodge a complaint with Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY), the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection.
8. Policy changes
We will update this page and its effective date if the app’s features or data practices change, including before adding features that collect or transmit information. This policy describes the current development implementation; future releases may have an updated policy. A privacy policy is also bundled in the app and can be read offline from Settings, Your space, and About.
